Mura Dehn 1902-1987
This page is devoted to particulars, queries, and discrepancies that arose during the research and writing
about Mura Dehn. She was a passionate, energetic, prolific documentarian of American dance, whose collection at the NYPL is vast, yet scrambled and difficult to navigate.
Should there be any questions about this work please contact me through this site and I will be happy to consider, correct and post it here. As Eiko once said, this work is a "silver in time" what I know right now, and what could be accomplished in the time and space allotted by the publisher. There is always more to learn, discover, and amend. * kcvaccaro@rider.edu.
* I humbly apologize to Mark Kihara, co-owner of Seattle Swing for transposing letters of his name (Hikara.) Mark provided key information at a critical time in this venture, he has my deepest respect and gratitude, and sincere regret for the error.
This is a shout out to Allen Blitz, who was instrumental in helping me in this endeavor. Allen knew Mura Dehn for the last 20 years of her life adding an authenticity that would have been impossible without him. Below are some pictures of him on tour in Africa with the Traditional Jazz Dance Company in 1969
